Cheryl Johnson Ludecke
Imagination is at the heart of Cheryl Ludecke’s unique and colorful childhood stories. Whether it is an imaginary journey aboard a sailing ship making its way through a night-time sky, or a make-believe ride into a morning horizon on the wings of a yellow butterfly, Cheryl creates a passage into an exciting world where a child’s imagination can flourish. She feels that a vigorous imagination can inspire children to dream and find surprising and unexpected ideas all around them. As a curious child herself, Cheryl always wanted to know why fireflies caught in a shiny, glass jar couldn’t light a house or be put into a silver ring to make it sparkle. She has taken these childhood memories and woven them into stories filled with special moments of wonder. A mother and grandmother, Cheryl comes from a long line of writers, novelists, and journalists. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of South Florida in Tampa and worked on her Master’s degree in English at Stetson University in Deland. Cheryl’s family has lived in Central Florida since the 1890s when “Old Florida” was still a sleepy, southern paradise. She believes that the special books that children love and enjoy in their childhood, can influence their lives forever.
